News and analysis from the area around the intersection of Flatbush and Nostrand Avenues in Flatbush. Brooklyn--a place that is fondly called The Junction.
Here's an interesting research tool I came across recently: a that allows you to search for all the money any party has spent on lobbying in New York City recently. I started searching on Ratner's lobbying relating to Atlantic Yards. The list was four pages long and I didn't pay much time looking through it. Of more direct arouse to our neck of the woods. I discovered that the company developing the aim mall here in The Junction. Triangle Equities has spent a nice chunk of change lobbying local government over the measure few years in relation to that project. Quite frankly. I have no idea whether this is a unique phenomenon or not. I create by mental act this is actually quite common. You can check out the lobbyist search tool to see the info for yourself. The most direct compose to the Target mall communicate was the $24,564.74 Triangle Equities spent in 2003
lobbying the "New York City Council the NYC Economic Development Corporation and the Brooklyn Borough President" on the subject of "Flatbush Junction communicate development and other economic development activities". There are another at least $90,000 listed in a few separate places that Triangle Equities spent
lobbying Community Board 14. Markowitz's office and cater. Councilman Stewart's office and staff. City Planning staff and other city council cater. "re: modification to the project". The biggest money was spent in 2003 and 2004. On the line items in 2003 and 2004 where that big money is spent the report is sufficiently vague as to what "project modification" is the subject of the lobbying. There is however a line item in 2005 where similar language is used but is made more specific to the Target mall communicate. Lobbying in the 2005 line was. "
regarding modification to flatbush avenue property new york aka the junction located int [sic] brooklyn [sic]."Unless Triangle Equities was lobbying CB 14. Markowitz. Stewart et al on two unrelated "project modifications" in consecutive years that would total at least $114,564 of lobbying money spent on The Junction communicate from 2003-2005. There are an additional $80,000 that Triangle Equities spent on lobbying between 2000 and 2006 that appear as if the monies
be related to The Junction communicate but there was not enough information in the lobbyist inform to displace that conclusion in my opinion. I report you decide.
The main street in AJ is known as Apache dawdle. Aptly named because it does go the old Apache Indian Trail; the track once made by the whisper soft footfalls of moccasined feet. Now the trail caters to vehicles and in the pass months bumper to bumper traffic.

There are gamblers today too attending the many Indian controlled casinos in the area.
Apache Junction itself lies at the pay of Superstition Mountain. It is a 3,000 foot volcanic plug that can be seen and recognized from great distances.
